PROJECT STAGES
Two years ago we gave an answer to the question „What is music-therapy?“
This year we are about to answer the following:

1. MUSIC AND BRAIN
- To explain how the music affects the brain impulse transmission
- To explain why the music manages to trigger off every brain lobe at once
- To define neurotransmitters and their concentration during music

2. THE BRAIN'S REACTION TO DIFFERENT MUSIC STYLES
- To explain neurotransmitter concentration and the function of singular brain lobes during listening of specific music styles

3. THE IMPACT OF MUSIC ON OUR INTELLIGENCE AND CONCENTRATION
- To explain how music affects human intelligence
- To describe music styles with positive effect on our concentration

4. HOW DOES MUSIC AFFECT OUR PERSONALITY?
- To explain whether different styles affect different personality traits

5. DO WE ALL HEAR THE MUSIC THE SAME WAY?
- To explain why different age groups hear the sam music frequency in a different way

6. CORRELATION BETWEEN EVERYDAY SPEECH AND MUSIC
- To explain how the brain differs speech from music
- To explain whether everyday speech affects the brain the same as music
- To explain whether music is only the musicality we are used to

7. MUSIC DURING FETAL GROWTH
- To define the importance of music during fetal growth
- To explain the music dynamics when a mother-to-be listenin to music
- To explain how the fetus hears the music

8. NATURAL MUSICAL TALENT IN CHILDREN
- To explain children's music predisposition and talent for singing/playing
- To define when it is best shown and how it helps prevent the risks of chronic diseases
- To explain what makes a child predesposed to music

9. MUSIC AND HORMONAL BALANCE
- To define how music affects human hormones
- To explain the imprtance of music styles relating to hormonal balance

10. MUSIC AND DISEASE

- To explain the medical conditions that can be treated with a help of music therapy

11. THE IMPACT OF MUSIC ON OUR MENTAL HEALTH
- To explain how music helps preserve our mental health
- To define music impact on everyday stress
- To explain how different music styles affect different mental conditions
- To explain th importance of music for the mental hygene

12. PLANT EXPERIMENT
- To explain how different music styles frequencies affect the plant growth
- To define the impact of music on the cell mitosis
- To follow the plant progress under the impact of different music styles
- To explain the purpose of the experiment and correlation between a plant and a human body on a cell level as well as the impact of music on human cells

By making a survey, students will gather all the necessary data on the teen population in our town and their knowledge about music, its impact on human body and the idea that music can cure.
In cooperation with music community and town's music school and under the guidence of biology students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences we will make an experiment concerning music impact on plants. The expected results include involvement, interest, cooperation and the use of knowledge in their everyday life.
Personally I believe that this topic is extremely extensive and insufficiently explored. Also the general public is unaware of music benefits to their lives and medical conditions or the benefits for mothers-to-be and music impact on their unborn child as well as its impact on the memory of the elderly population. Therefore, I ask of the Committee to accept our project topic.

The second student exchange in project "Music and Brain – From Conception Ttill Death"
(January 22, 2020)

The second student exchange as part of the project "Music and Brain – From Conception Till Death" was held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Viktorovac. The exchanged was organised by High school Viktorovac (Ivana Blažeković, Ivan Olujić, Sandra Džafo) and the participants were the students of Medical school Bjelovar (Nensi Vojtela, Sara Drčić), Medical school Rijeka (Ella Mila Bošnjak, Jan Samardžija), High school Čakovec (Erika Tarandek, Lana Žerjav) and Fran Lhotka Music school Sisak (Ana Delić, Una Ibrahimagić, Luka Mustapić) with their mentors (Tina Jelić Balta – Medical school Bjelovar, Kornelia Doračić – Medical school Rijeka, Dunja Gašparić – High school Čakovec, Jelena Lučan – High school Viktorovac and Ankica Vujnović Tonković – Fran Lhotka Music school).
The exchange began with a tour around our school followed by a discussion about the project. The measurings of vital signs before and after listening to Joe Meixner piano music were analysed as well as the ideas on the presentation itself and finally it was decided on the content and the assignments were given. Each participant agreed on the part they will investigate in greater detail and combine in a whole afterwards. The students of Medical school Rijeka will combine their education of future dental technicians with music in two different ways. The students of Medical school Bjelovar will try to show that music can cause disturbance, not only pleasure while listening. The students of High school Čakovec will try to explain the connection between teenagers' negative feelings and the music they listen to. The students of High school Viktorovac will present a few more examples, explore the connection between medicine and music when ill people are concerned.    The music students will also contribute to our presentation by showing the difference between voices, pointing out those more pleasant to listen to. These were only some of our ideas.
After the school meeting we headed to Fran Lhotka Music school. Music teacher Ankica Vujnović Tonković and couple of her students met us there, showed us around, told us about school history and we listened to some music played by one of the students. Finally we showed our friends the „Holland house“ so that the students could get some insight in town's history and see Kraker exhibition – one of the most valuable collections of radios, records and record players.
