A weekend in Kranjska gora

As the winter slowly started to make way for spring a group of eight students and two professors from ZSKŠ Maribor spent a weekend in Kranjska gora, where we attended a water rescue course. Moreover, our friends from Croatia, the students and professors from Medicinska and Pomorska škola from Zadar, that are our partners in the project Water rescue, also took part. During the course we learned that for rescuing from water a lot of knowledge and physical condition is required.
When we arrived, Kranjska gora was covered with fog. At first we had a theoretical part with professor Mr Aleš Voh, who introduced the types of water rescuing, the accessories and providing first-aid help. A short written test followed.
The second day we started with practical work at the pool, where we performed providing the first-aid help to a drowned person with professor Ms Karmen Janžekovič. Later we moved into the pool to learn three types of holds for rescuing a drowned person, for less and the most difficult situations. To finish the course successfully every participant had to perform a specific hold. In the afternoon we cycled to the ski jumping hill Planica and in the evening we had sports activities as e.g. table tennis, climbing, jogging. In the end we received a diploma on the passed water rescuing course and with some more knowledge and new experience we went home.

On Friday, April 12, 2013 the students of Medical School Ante Kuzmanića and Maritime School from Zadar, accompanied by a mentor Anita Mišković and pedagog Marin Perinić, headed in Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, on a three-day gathering with students and leaders from Medical and Cosmetic School Maribor, Slovenia. This meeting and the exchange part of the practical work in the framework of the joint project "Water Rescue".

Students Ines Benović, Luka Matković, Ivan Filip Pavić, Filip Ivančev, Filip Filipović, Iva Vidas, Lidija Katkić, Renato Sabo and Petar Čolak set off early in the morning for Slovenia. The journey lasted for six hours. When we finally reached the CŠOD pupil's dormitory, we were welcomed with comfortable beds and dinner.
After dinner we had our first lecture on ‘Rescuing the drowning man from water'. The lecture was held by professor of Physical Education from Maribor, Slovenia. Social hours took place later in the evening, after which we went sightseeing.
On early Saturday morning, we went to swimming pool where we learned different rescuing techniques, after which the course on CPR was held. The rescuing and CPR techniques, from which we learned a lot, were very interesting and educational. In the afternoon we went cycling 10 km to the biggest ski jump in the world- Planica. On returning to pupil's dormitory, we took an exam and passed it successfully, even though they were in Slovenian. We visited an artificial lake Jasna.
Because of leaving Kranjska Gora, we spent a melancholy Sunday morning, but we carried our diplomas and wonderful memories of the three remarkable days spent there.
