PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The goal of the project is to explain what hemodialysis is and for which patients is it necessary, furthermore which problems do the patients most commonly encounter, and how they solve them and how to help them in that. With help of the patients we will explain the procedure of connecting them to the hemodialysis machine using the AV fistula and central venous catheter, moreover we will list the positive and negative aspects of both types of connecting. We will explain the procedure with the patient before, during and after the hemodialysis. Second students exchange in project "Life With Hemodialysis" in Sremska Mitrovica  Second students exchange in project "Life With Hemodialysis" in Sremska Mitrovica Minimize

Second student exchange in project "Life With Hemodialysis"
(February 28, - March 1, 2019)

The second student exchange in project "Life With Hemodialysis" was hosted by Medical School "Draginja Nikšić" from Sremska Mitrovica, in the period from February 28 to March 1, 2019. In student exchange participated students and mentors from Maritime School Zadar and Secondary School Dalj.

The aim of the project is to identify the problems faced by the person on hemodialysis, to discover measures and ways to improve the quality of life of people on hemodialysis.
The project activities were divided among the partners and it was a lot of work: we recorded videos on the subject of hemodialysis, patient surveys were conducted, a diet plan was made for patients who went to hemodialysis.
If the theory were not left on paper alone, a visit to the hemodialysis department was organized in the Sremska Mitrovica General Hospital. The students are nicely received by the medical staff. We had the opportunity to get acquainted with personal stories of patients who were on hemodialysis. Nurse Violeta Srbljanin explained us in detail to the whole process of hemodialysis.

The "Draginja Nikšić" medical school from Sremska Mitrovica was an excellent host who made sure that guests, in addition to the formal part of the program, would get acquainted with the most important cultural monuments of their city
.

Student impressions

They say a man's friendships are one of the best measures of his worth, and this student exchange enriched me not only with many of new friendships but also with new skills, knowledge and work experience in just three days.
The commitment of both mentors and other participants in this project is indisputably supported by the workshops that we brought to perfection in order to shine in front of the big audience in Tuhelj.
Participants of the program had only words of praise, which were confirmed by smiles on face of the host as well as on the faces of guests. That is why we are looking forward to further cooperation beacause knowledge and skills we gain here are invaluable, and friendships are like pearls - valuable, rare and precious.
