Target Group: 
Students of 2nd and 4th nurse/technician class.
Project Objectives: 
Using a school electrocardiograph, students will investigate heart rhythm, determine heart rate and electrical activity of the heart during exercise and at rest. Training future health professionals on the challenges of the real world.

Heart building and cardiac muscle work principle.
Measurements, graphs of heart rate, comparison of heart rate counts in sleep and after exercise, by taking measurements, whether the heartbeats of all people are the same while resting and why? By comparing and analyzing the graphs, conclude that the pulse remains constant during rest, increases during exercise, and returns to the initial value.

Collaborators:  Schools, mentors, teachers of medical group of subjects and teachers of physics and biophysics.

Expected Results:  Applying learned knowledge and skills in future health care work.

   Measurement of bioelectric potential is important in medical diagnostics, and for this purpose several devices for measuring and registering bioelectric voltages have been developed. Healthcare staff should be enabled to use the new technologies used in biomedical devices. Teaching biophysics is excellent for applying information-communication technology to help students understand the teaching content and develop their skills. The biological potential measuring tool we have at the Health School in Split is a set of TESS Cobra4 Electrophysiology. This set teaches the basic methods of studying electrophysiological processes in the human body.
   The idea of the project is the interrelationship of the subjects of professional and general subjects, the encouragement of students to self-measurement, analysis, comparison, decision-making, problem solving, presentation of opinions, discussion and project development for the purpose of education and preparation for lifelong learning, advancement and research work in the profession, students on teamwork and collaborative learning

The heart's work principle
Electrocardiography and electrocardiography
• Record an electrocardiogram heartbeat at rest and determine the different phases of cardiac activity
• Record an electrocardiogram during physical activity
   o Record an ECG person moving from inactivity to physical activity (20 squats)
   o Record the ECG as the person moves from the physical activity to the inactivity and calculate how much time it takes for the appropriate heart rate to reset
• Compare the ECG to a healthy and sick heart, assume that the pacemaker works
• Determine the number of beats and heart rate from the ECG
• Investigate whether the heartbeats of all people in idle are the same and why?

First students exchange in the project "The Our Heartbeats"

    The students of the Medical School from Rijeka, Doris Keđo and Edi Vučić, and mentor Zvonko Miškić, on November 6th, 2018, visited the Split School of Health. Rijeka colleagues and students were warmly welcomed by Split school headmistress Mirjana Kurtović, E-medica coordinator Sanja Perić, common projects mentor Marija Jurišić Šarlija and studensts Ana Gašić and Antonija Ivanišević.

   Most of the time was allocated to measure the heart's ECG and analyze metering data. Teamwork created a working version of the presentation. The dynamics and responsibilities for further activities under the project "The Our Heartbeats" were agreed.

   The students from Rijeka participated in the home health care lessons, visited modernly equipped cabinets and school laboratories, and mentor Zvonko Miškić participated in the physics class in the e-classroom.

   Leisure time spent sightseeing and socializing with their Split colleagues.

   At the closing meeting held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, mentors agreed on further cooperation and division of tasks in order to successfully implement the project

Impressions from students exchange in Split

   We gathered in late evening and went for Split into new learning and adventures. We traveled for eight hours, which went through waiting for everything that followed. Warm welcome to our arrival were our employees and students of the Health Care School in Split. After a good reception we had a school that fascinated us with its interior and equipment. Then we went to the course on Health Care at Home, and after the lessons we got acquainted with the equipment we will use during the project.
   We visited the kinesiotherapy cabinet and presented our project to our colleagues from the direction of the physiotherapist who helped us in doing the task. In a relaxed atmosphere, we started work and measurements of the ECG of the heart at rest, during physical activity and after physical activity. We track the results obtained and compare them to the results obtained with smartphone applications.
   After the assignment we were on a joint lunch and on an educational walk through the city, led by professor of History from Health Care School, Mirjana Kamber. We started walking with a visit to the statue of Grgur Ninski. As we have been paying particular attention to the Diocletian's Palace, which is considered the "heart of the city", we also visited the smallest cathedral in this area that is still in function, which was created in time until Christianity was recognized as a religion. We met the old nucleus of the city, and we saw the oldest bookstore in the world "Morpurgo". After the tour we had a free time to meet and socialize and share ideas and experiences.
   During the second day, we met with the OneNote and Teams apps, through which we will cooperate in further implementation of the project.
   And finally, what makes the E-medica so special and what has drawn us to join her is the exchange of knowledge, experience, but also the friendship we care for. If you want to have friends among you, you have to do something for them, you have to devote them time, energy and attention. Our hosts did it for us too.

   On Tuesday, June 5, 2018, a video conference was held via Skype for business, Medical School Split and Medical School in Rijeka.
   The topic of the video conference was the work on the joint project "Our Heartbeats", hosts Ana Gašić and Antonija Ivanišević and mentor Marija Jurišić Šarlija from Split. The video conference was attended by students Doris Keđo and Edi Vučić from Rijeka and their mentor Zvonko Miškić.

    At this video conference, we have agreed on details of further collaboration and ways of realizing the project phase, which aims to investigate and define the heart and heart role, electrocardiography and electrocardiograph (to record the electrocardiogram at rest and to determine the phases of heart activity, record electrocardiogram during physical activity, the ECG of a healthy and sick heart, assume that the pacemaker works, determine the heart rate and heart rate of the ECG, investigate whether the heart rate of all people is at idle), heart disease that a doctor can identify from a specific ECG heart pattern. ECG recording will be realized at the Healthcare School in Split using the TESS set of Cobra 4 Electrophysiology equipment. We also agreed on future communication and collaboration through Office 365 for schools where we will use Microsoft Teams, Planner, and OneNote applications.

   We look forward to getting to know each other, work together and meet on the first student exchange scheduled for the month of October 2018.
