(September 25, 2019)

   On Thursday, September 25, 2019, the first video conference (via WhatsApp) was held for students and mentors working on a joint project of the Split School of Health, "Who And How Our "Angels" Live Today”. The video conference was attended by students from all three participating schools.

  The Split School of Health was represented by students Ivona Babic and Duje Pericic together with their mentor Mira Talaja, from the Bjelovar Medical School students Luka Bosanac and Ema Lovak with mentor Tina Jelic Balta and from Sesvete High School students Maja Marija Rados, Luka Topic and Ivana Lozic with mentor to Susan Pesord.
   The topic of the video conference was the analysis of the project work so far, harmonization and division of tasks for the next stages of the joint project. The fundamental objective of the project is to investigate, analyze and demonstrate the work of a nurse and technician in extraordinary circumstances and improvised workplaces, far and away from healthcare facilities.
   Searching through the available literature, since the first idea of the project and topic, we have noticed that there is very little literature and that most of it is based on the testimonies of participants, medical staff members of the medical field teams in various extraordinary circumstances (floods, earthquakes, war operations, aircraft and train accidents, ...). Most of the severely injured and a large number of injured were taken care of and prepared by the medical teams in inadequate premises (meadows, forests, caves, arbors, belts, basements, dugouts, etc.), which had to be prepared and adapted in a very short time. They also had to be improvised so that standardized, usually complex, medical and medical-technical procedures can be performed on those places.
   As we did not find any content about the work of a nurse and a technician in emergency situations during formal education for a nurse / general practitioner, we decided to cover this with research and project teaching. At the first videoconference, we exchanged and analyzed previously found materials and literature on the work of nurses and technicians in war. We agreed on a strategy for developing a questionnaire, defining a sample, tools and methods of contact with respondents, as well as methods and dynamics of future communication between project associates. We have welcomed the professional assistance provided by extracurricular institutions in the project implementation. Another videoconference is planned to analyze and critically address the results of the survey.
   The video conference was held in a work and friendly atmosphere, with students showing a high level of creativity and motivation to work.
